MECHANICAL DESIGN PROJECT

I completed this gearbox design over the course of two classes focused on learning SolidWorks. I was given the instruction on modeling the parts, then combined the parts into an assembly in SolidWorks, but the parts were filled with design flaws. By learning design principles such as fastener specifications, tolerances, use of standard fit tables, design for manufacturability and design for assembly. I was able to apply the principles correctly to specify retaining ring and bushing size, along with the mating feature of the shaft fits and grooves.

To designing the gear box for better manufacturablity and assembly. Two side covers are combined with the housing and using the same size cap screw instead of two different sizes.

By creating parts and combine those parts into an assembly, it enabled me to be able to do mechanical design and proficient in applying design principles in SolidWorks.
